APPGS letter to Matt Hancock

The latest meeting of the APPGS raised parliamentary awareness for inflammatory skin conditions. Attendees offered a moving and detailed account of patient experiences of living with an inflammatory skin condition.
A dozen parliamentarians heard from speakers about skin treatments being denied or restricted within England.  The new Chair of the APPGS, David Davies MP, has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on this matter. The letter asks for the Department of Health and Social Care to meet the APPGS and clarify the guidance that NHS England has given to Clinical Commissioning Groups on over-the-counter medicines.
David argues that we need to ensure long-term skin conditions are treated with the priority they deserve and that nothing is done to restrict access to emollients from those that spend their lives suffering from terrible skin conditions.
